SESLA CANDIDATE PROFILE FOR INDEPENDENT TRUSTEES

MILAGROS C. AZANZA “MILA”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • As a Trustee/Chairman, the current composition of the current Board members has been very effective in addressing the increasing challenges of SESLA to increase Return on Capital Contribution (RCC) through operational efficiency and compliance with existing laws, BIR rules and BSP regulations. I have provided direction to SESLA as Chairman and Chair of the Good Governance Committee
  • Member of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Technical Working Group that tackles BSP Circulars for implementation and compliance across all NSSLAIs. I have achieved a very good working knowledge of the Manual of Regulations for Non-Bank Financial Institutions (MORNBFI), which governs activities related to Risk Assessment & Strategy, Investment Policies, Borrowing and Lending, Rules on Well-Defined Groups, Good Corporate Governance, etc.
  • Member of ANSLI Technical Working Group – Now working on amendments to RA 8367, the law governing NSSLAIs when Congress opens this year. Amendments are intended to address the new business and financial environment where the savings and loan associations operate./li>
  • Trustee for ANSLI (Affiliation of Non-Stock Savings & Loan Institutions, Inc.), with 53 member (NSSLAIs) Non-Stock Savings & Loan Associations.
  • Chairman of Training Committee of ANSLI, which is accredited by the BSP, for training programs of Trustees and staff of all NSSLAIs. The revenue generated from Training Programs is used to help all NSSLAIs in advancing a deeper understanding of BSP rules and the MORNBFI for all NSSLAIs.
  • Balanced skills in organization not only in SESLA but in other organizations Shell Club15 Plus, Inc and Leukemic Indigents Fund Endowment (LIFE) and Established a high-level network with BSP, BIR, ANSLI and other government institutions which benefits SESLA and its members

ALEXANDER LUIS A. HERNANDEZ “ALEX”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • A consultant with numerous years of corporate experience in a wide range of fields ranging from Operations to Sales & Marketing, Project Management to Compliance, and Customer Relations to Leadership Management.
  • Supported businesses that require individuals that can quickly get to the work requirements, structure a plan to meet the business requirement, and ready to step-up to manage the implementation of agreed decisions and/or solutions. ELMADEL M. FIGUEROA “ELMA”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Shell Retiree with 36 experience (30 years in PSPC and 6 years in SBO-Manila) with proven track record on Trading and negotiations, Supply budget and financial reports.
  • Held various position in SESLA Board of Trustees for the Past 12 years – Compliance Officer, PRO and Treasurer.
  • Together with the current Board of Trustees, We managed to improve our net income and dividend by 6% despite of all challenges that the team had encountered. I see the rebound of SESLA’s income and give to the members a good return of their capital contributions
  • As a Trustee Treasurer, I managed to maximize the yield we get from Banks, review the interest we get from loan and keep OPEX to minimum level (wise spending).
  • Actively involved in the improvement of Financial control and Good governance of SESLA

ATTY. MARK HADRIAN P. GAMO “HADES”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Trustee / Corporate Secretary of SESLA since June 2024
  • Corporate Secretary of Shell Pilipinas Corporation (SPC), a publicly-listed entity, since 01 January 2023.
  • Responsible for compliance with various rules & regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Philippine Stock Exchange.

  • Legal Counsel of SPC since June 2012. Currently, legal focal for SPC Trading & Supply, Pension Fund, Finance / Treasury (among others). Previously, legal focal for SPC Mobility Business
  • Extensive experience in managing and handling litigation matters. Part of Shell’s Global Litigation Team from 2012 to 2021that was accountable for managing Shell’s litigation matters within Asia Pacific Region
  • Engaged in the practice of law for more than 18 years, having graduated with honors in 2006 from Ateneo Law School

  • Finance experience, exposures to external stakeholders (e.g. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas), and economics skill:  useful in terms of providing feasible options in terms of establishing a robust financial position for SESLA
  • Process excellence and process design:  useful in assessing the processes in the organization if it is fit for purpose and retrofitting them (as needed) to adjust to the times
  • Risk and compliance:  to ensure we safeguard our financials and other data and systems according to the legal/fiscal requirements of a cooperative
  • Ability to listen to voice of the customers:  managing different generations of staff and stakeholders gave me the ability to see things from the lens of the “customers” that makes it easier to identify and truly align on needs

MARIA MELINDA I. SARMIENTO “MAMS”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • I am a SESLA member for the last 28 years and  became a Trustee Officer of SESLA from 2013 to present
  • I held roles such as Trustee-Compliance Officer , Trustee- Vice President and  now Trustee-President since July 2023 to present. My  treasured accomplishment together with my current Co Trustees is the  upward trend push of our RCC rate (Return on Capital Credits or Dividend) due to deliberate management of Operational Cost and Balanced Review and Action  of the Association’s Investment Portfolio
  • I Designed and Implemented Customer Service Training Programs for SESLA Operational staff
  • I Actively Pursued Membership Marketing in SBO, promoting SESLA and its offerings during staff Orientation/ Townhall (where appropriate) , in order to increase Membership base and strengthen Retention strategy.
  • My professional work in Shell extends to around  20 years of Combined experience in the area of Project Management and Change Management activities  with a proven track record of Leading Customer Operations for both Global and Local  Markets

MA. SHERRY E. SAYAS “SHERRY”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • SESLA Trustee since June 2022 and currently the Vice President since July 2023 to present
  • My Accomplishment as a Trustee is increasing the SBO awareness on SESLA by encouraging people to become members and avail of its product that will help them on their financial needs
  • As a trustee, I’m also responsible in managing HR related matters aligning its policies/ procedures with Shell standards.
  • I’ve have been with Shell for 19 years and currently the Process Architect for Non-Procurement Expenditure (NPE). I’m responsible to deliver key finance processes relating to Expenditure, Initiate, develops and implements E2E finance operations policies and procedures.
  • I have strong inclination in the simplification, standardization, and digitalization of NPE process to eliminate waste.

LERINA TAMAYO “LERINA”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Leader and Follower.  Not all armies need generals.  I am a collaborative part of the teams I have been in, whether I am leading a team or supporting one.  As a dynamic Shell staff, I currently lead the Admin Assistants Network and a Be Well ambassador, I am an active member of Volleyball & Badminton Clubs, Be Well network and the Country Chair’s office.
  • Experience in Finance and Administrative roles from my 25 years at Shell across various departments, including Supply & Distribution, LPG, Legal, the Country Chair’s office, and Energy Transition, I have developed extensive expertise in Finance and Administrative roles.
  • Rigor, Consistency and Discipline; these are my beliefs when it comes to important elements in running an organization: ethics & compliance, governance, care for people and safety.  I don’t hesitate to speak Naturally, genuinely listen too as the situation requires it.
  • Naturally, positive person.   Pag may problema, may solusyon.  My problem-solving skills have enabled me to work with others to develop creative solutions to complex challenges, ensuring   the successful implementation of projects, events and initiatives.
